Sandy Foster is a Dallas-based photographer and educator offering beginner, advanced and custom workshops, as well as private tutoring for all levels. As a teacher, Sandy’s sense of adventure is infectious. Her natural curiosity and deep connection to the visual landscapes of our world have led her to travel extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia. For over 12 years she has dazzled students with her meticulous attention to detail, her candid and refreshing sense of humor, and her remarkable humanity. Sandy is a patient, compassionate mentor who adapts her teaching style to the student’s unique personality. An engineer by trade, Sandy matches technical brilliance with an uncanny knack for making complex concepts seem easy. In a world full of academia and stuffy classroom rhetoric, Sandy shines as an educator whose people-skills match her expertise. Her rare talent for true connection with other human beings brings out the best in everyone.
Sandy’s striking contributions as a fine artist have received professional recognition and praise by such giants of photographic excellence as John Paul Caponigro, Joe McNally, Jack Reznicki, Bert Monroy, Joe Glyda, Eddie Tapp, Kevin Ames and Ben Willmore. Sandy is a recent recipient of the prestigious Vincent Versace Award for Photographic Excellence. Other awards include Best in Show in the Dallas Home Magazine Arboretum Photography Contest, and Best in Show in the Denton, Texas Art Show. She has exhibited widely throughout her home state where her work has appeared in a traveling exhibition titled “Light Inspirations” in Plano, Texas, and is part of the permanent art collection at the Richardson, Texas Public Library. She was chosen as both a contest judge and a guest speaker at the Plano, Texas Photo Club, and she is a 12-time winner including Best in Show at the Richardson, Texas Photo Contest. Sandy has worked as a technical editor and contributor for books on photography and Photoshop and has published in Dallas Home Magazine, Popular Photography, Outdoor Photography, and in other respected guides to digital photography. In addition, Sandy has collaborated on workshops with Stephen Johnson, a noted master of the photographic craft. She has also provided content for books and DVD’s by respected Photoshop guru Jack Davis.
Sandy’s professional memberships include Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Texas Professional Photographers Association (TPPA), and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP).
